Day of Dignity is a community-led effort and we need your support to ensure that it is a success. During the event, we anticipate to serve roughly 1,000 people and we want to ensure that we rise to meet the community need. There are several ways to get involved (1) volunteer; (2) table as a community organization and (3) donate supplies for direct distribution.

What kind of responsibilities do volunteers take on during Day of Dignity? Great question! You will be assigned a station/job based on your preferences in the volunteer intake form. While we will do our best to place you with your first choice, please note that there are no guarantees. For more information, please review the station description form here. Can I bring my children to the event? Yes, however, please note that you are responsible for your children during the event. Childcare will not be provided. |
I live in the neighborhood and want to donate supplies, how do I do that?
Thank you for your support. We will be accepting supplies in the week leading up to Day of Dignity (August 21-25) at Sullivan High School during select hours. We kindly ask that you review the Resource Center Needs form which outlines the scope of items that are in constant demand. For more information, please email info@chicagorefugee.org. My group would like to organize a supply drive, can we do that? Absolutely -- it'll be a huge help. If you are organizing a supply drive, please know that we will be able to come and collect these items if they are in bulk. Please email us at info@chicagorefugee.org to coordinate your drive with our team. Please be sure to review the Resource Center Needs List which outlines products that are always in demand. Additionally, we invite you to take a look at our ongoing Amazon Wish List Drive in partnership with the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. Items from this list will ship directly to CRC and we'll ensure that your generous donation is distributed to a person in need during the event! Are the services limited to refugees only? No. While refugees are the core mandate of the Chicago Refugee Coalition please know that if you (or anyone you know) are in need, please come. All are welcome. Will there be parking for participants/guests? Unfortunately, reserved parking for guests/attendees is not available for this event. We strongly encourage the use of public transportation or ride share services. Sullivan High School is located a short walk from the Loyola Red Line Station. Street parking is available in the neighborhood; however, CRC and IRUSA will not be held liable for any incidentals or damage to your vehicle. |
