Board of Directors

The guiding force behind our success is our Board of Directors. Our organization has many esteemed Board Members representing institutions such as Oxford University, Loyola University Medical School, and award winning international NGOs. We are creative thinkers, executive-level leaders, and above all: humanitarians.

While many board seats are invitation only, we are seeking likeminded individuals from diverse backgrounds to bring their talents to our organization. If you are interested in joining our growing Board of Directors, please review the membership guide and contact us to apply if you feel that you would be a good fit. Your candidacy would be considered and then voted upon by the current Board of Directors at their following quarterly meeting.

Board Members serve terms of two years which are renewable for up to five terms. The Board of Directors meets as a whole once a quarter and serves as specialized professional for the organization.

Young Professionals Board

We believe that by empowering the youth of today we can build the leaders of tomorrow. The Young Professionals Board (YPB) is comprised of a group of passionate young people who are building their careers and looking to give back. This group enhances the mission of the Chicago Refugee Coalition by planning social events, aiding in the collective fundraising efforts of the organization, enhancing organizational outreach, and by providing critical feedback to staff and the Board of Directors. The Chair of the YPB serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors as a delegate and liaison between the two bodies.

We invite you to apply today and to review our membership expectations to ensure that you will be a good fit for the organization.

Membership Expectations
  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings.
  • Serve on at least one committee.
  • Attend at least one major event annually (e.g. World Refugee Day, Human Rights Day, etc.)

Advisory Council

We believe that when you consider a wide range of viewpoints, and heed the counsel of leading field experts, innovative solutions are bound to occur. The goal of the Advisory Council is to provide ad-hoc advice to the Board of Directors and organizational staff.

This is a space for specialized professionals to donate their expertise, when needed, without the commitment of regular meetings and fundraising goals.

We are seeking experts from all fields of business, medicine, academia, journalism, the arts, and clergy to provide our organization with substantive counsel with regards to program management, organizational development, and ensuring that we stay true to course in making Chicago a more open and equitable place to call home.

If you are interested, please apply here.
The Chicago Refugee Coalition is a 501(c)(3) non-profit (EIN: 83-0977387), non-partisan, secular organization committed to the alleviation of human suffering through innovative research, advocacy, and community development.
Thank you for your interest and support of our organization.
